Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality hands-on patient care and assist with therapeutic exercises and mobility programs
- Implement treatment plans under the direction of a physical therapist and document patient progress
- Perform patient transfers, gait training, and functional mobility activities safely and effectively
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to create patient-centered goals and support discharge planning
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safe techniques to maximize independence
- Maintain treatment areas and equipment, and follow facility infection control and safety protocols
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Current state PTA license or certification as required by California, or eligible to obtain licensure
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with patients, families, and clinical teams
- Clinical experience in inpatient or rehabilitation settings preferred
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment and documentation of functional status and progress
- Skilled in therapeutic exercise, gait training, transfers, and use of assistive devices
- Familiarity with common rehab diagnoses and treatment approaches
- Proficient with electronic medical records and timely charting
- Ability to prioritize caseload and manage time efficiently while delivering compassionate care
