Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, high-quality hands-on skilled care under the direction of the Physical Therapist
• Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, modalities, and functional activities to maximize independence
• Monitor patient progress, document outcomes, and communicate changes to the PT and care team
• Help develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on safe mobility and improved function
• Educate patients and families on home programs, fall prevention, and safe transfer techniques
• Collaborate with nursing and other disciplines to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care
• Support a positive, restorative environment that promotes patient dignity and recovery

Qualifications

• Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in Maine or eligible for state licensure
• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (associate degree or diploma)
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Experience in SNF, LTC, or outpatient settings preferred; weekend rotation experience a plus
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• Reliable, professional, and committed to delivering person-centered rehabilitation

Education

• Associate degree or diploma from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of therapeutic exercise, modalities, transfers and gait training
• Ability to safely assist with patient mobility and use of assistive devices
• Skilled documentation and outcome measurement to demonstrate patient progress
• Familiarity with SNF/LTC regulations and rehab best practices
• Strong observational skills to identify changes in patient status and escalate appropriately
• Comfort working in both one-on-one and group therapy environments
