Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist therapists in delivering personalized treatment plans that help residents regain mobility and independence
- Provide hands-on therapeutic interventions including gait training, transfers and therapeutic exercise
- Monitor patient progress and document outcomes clearly and timely in the medical record
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, high-quality care
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safety strategies to maintain gains
- Maintain a safe and organized treatment area while following infection control and safety protocols
Qualifications
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of Maryland (required)
- Graduation from an accredited PTA program
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable working in a long-term care/rehab setting; experience with geriatric populations is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
Education
- Associate Degree or diploma from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of therapeutic modalities, gait training and adaptive equipment
- Skilled in patient handling, transfers and fall prevention techniques
- Ability to accurately document treatment plans and patient progress
- Good clinical judgment and the ability to follow established protocols
- Empathy, patience and excellent interpersonal skills when working with residents and families
