Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients for communication and swallowing needs and design personalized plans of care
- Develop and implement evidence-based therapy interventions to improve outcomes
- Document evaluations, progress, and discharge summaries clearly and timely
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, physicians, and families to coordinate care
- Educate patients and caregivers to support carryover and functional progress
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain compliance with facility policies, professional standards, and documentation requirements
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology required
- Current state license to practice Speech-Language Pathology in Virginia
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred
- Experience working in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or similar clinical settings preferred
- Strong clinical documentation skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team
- Ability to pass required background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (M.S. or M.A.)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in clinical assessment and treatment planning for communication and swallowing disorders
- Proficient at developing measurable, functional goals and tracking progress
- Strong verbal and written communication with patients, families, and colleagues
- Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and timely documentation practices
