Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients' functional abilities and develop individualized, meaningful treatment goals
- Design and implement evidence-based OT interventions to improve activities of daily living
- Provide hands-on therapy, adaptive equipment training, and safe transfer instruction
- Document clinical findings and progress clearly in the medical record
- Collaborate with nursing, physical therapy, speech therapy, and social work for coordinated care
- Educate patients and families on strategies to maximize independence and safety
- Participate in discharge planning and ensure smooth transitions to the next level of care
- Support and mentor therapy assistants and newer clinicians when appropriate
Qualifications
- Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) in Virginia or eligible to obtain state licensure
- Experience in Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) and long-term care settings preferred
- Strong clinical reasoning and excellent documentation skills
- Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Comfortable working as part of an interdisciplinary team and communicating with families
Education
- Master's degree in Occupational Therapy or OTD (entry-level clinical degree in OT)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in ADL assessment, adaptive equipment recommendations, and transfer training
- Proficient with objective documentation and electronic medical record systems
- Knowledge of long-term care clinical needs and therapeutic approaches for older adults
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team
- Ability to prioritize caseloads and deliver efficient, patient-centered care
