Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients' functional abilities and develop individualized, meaningful treatment goals
• Design and implement evidence-based OT interventions to improve activities of daily living
• Provide hands-on therapy, adaptive equipment training, and safe transfer instruction
• Document clinical findings and progress clearly in the medical record
• Collaborate with nursing, physical therapy, speech therapy, and social work for coordinated care
• Educate patients and families on strategies to maximize independence and safety
• Participate in discharge planning and ensure smooth transitions to the next level of care
• Support and mentor therapy assistants and newer clinicians when appropriate

Qualifications

• Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) in Virginia or eligible to obtain state licensure
• Experience in Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) and long-term care settings preferred
• Strong clinical reasoning and excellent documentation skills
• Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Comfortable working as part of an interdisciplinary team and communicating with families

Education

• Master's degree in Occupational Therapy or OTD (entry-level clinical degree in OT)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in ADL assessment, adaptive equipment recommendations, and transfer training
• Proficient with objective documentation and electronic medical record systems
• Knowledge of long-term care clinical needs and therapeutic approaches for older adults
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team
• Ability to prioritize caseloads and deliver efficient, patient-centered care
