Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living — bathing, dressing, grooming and feeding with dignity and respect
- Support safe mobility: help with transfers, ambulation and fall prevention
- Observe and report changes in condition to the nursing team promptly
- Document care and resident observations accurately and timely
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver person-centered care
- Create a warm, comforting environment that supports emotional and social needs
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification or equivalent required
- BLS/CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfortable working with older adults and supporting geriatric needs
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
- Ability to pass facility background checks and health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic knowledge of geriatric care principles and elder safety
- Competence in assisting with ADLs and mobility support
- Good documentation and observational skills
- Infection control and basic hygiene practices
- Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
