Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Brooklyn Park, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem (variable days), 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, day shift (evening hours)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $20 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate personal care to residents, supporting dignity and independence
Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting
Help with safe transfers and mobility assistance while following proper body mechanics
Observe and report changes in condition to nursing staff in a timely, accurate way
Document care activities and communicate effectively with the care team and families
Support meal assistance and ensure residents' comfort during dining and activities
Contribute to a clean, safe, and respectful living environment for residents

Qualifications

Current GNA certification required
Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) preferred or required by facility
Comfort working with older adults in a long-term care or geriatric setting
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
State-required immunizations and background check clearance as applicable
Previous experience in long-term care or assisted living is a plus

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
State GNA certification

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of infection control and safe care practices
Skill with resident transfers, positioning, and mobility support
Ability to observe, document, and communicate resident needs clearly
Compassionate bedside manner and patience with cognitive or mobility challenges
Basic charting and time-management skills to keep shifts running smoothly
