Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-acuity nursing care in a 20-bed Surgical/Trauma ICU, maintaining a typical patient ratio of 1:2
• Manage complex ventilator care and perform advanced airway support including intubation and extubation
• Operate and troubleshoot CRRT/HD (Prisma Max) and manage continuous renal therapies
• Perform and assist with invasive procedures such as central line and A-line placement, chest tube management, tracheostomy care and proning
• Administer time-sensitive medications safely, including TPA and hypertonic solutions, following unit protocols
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently using Cerner PowerChart
• Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, therapists and unit staff to create individualized care plans
• Support unit operations including attendance on scheduled weekends and floating to other critical care areas when needed

Qualifications

• Valid Nursing License (active) — required
• Active ACLS and BLS certifications — required
• Minimum 2 years of acute care ICU experience (Trauma ICU experience at a Level I or II trauma center and Surgical ICU experience required)
• Comfort with advanced ICU procedures listed above and willingness to be a team player with a positive, flexible attitude
• Experience with Cerner PowerChart and familiarity with ICU equipment and monitors

Education

• Valid Nursing License required; specific degree not listed (ADN or BSN acceptable)

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and advanced airway care (intubation/extubation)
• Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT/HD) and Prisma Max experience
• Hemodynamic monitoring using GE Carescape bedside monitors and management of A-lines/C-lines
• Familiarity with infusion and PCA pumps (Alaris, Baxter) and feeding pumps (Kangaroo)
• Wound vac management, EVD/bolt familiarity, and tracheostomy care
• Proning procedures and care of severely ill, post-surgical and trauma patients
• Strong documentation skills in Cerner PowerChart and clear multidisciplinary communication
• Ability to prioritize in high-acuity situations and deliver compassionate patient-centered care
