Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, treating each person with dignity
• Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding
• Monitor and record vital signs, reporting any changes to the nursing team promptly
• Support safe mobility and fall-prevention measures while encouraging independence
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and communicate clearly during shift handoffs
• Help create a warm, home-like environment by engaging residents in conversation and activities
• Follow infection control standards and facility policies to keep residents and staff safe

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
• Comfort and experience working night shifts (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Valid basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Clear background check and up-to-date immunizations as required by facility
• Strong observational skills and ability to communicate effectively with residents and team
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently in a per-diem capacity

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care needs and age-related conditions
• Skill in safe resident handling and mobility assistance
• Familiarity with documenting care in clinical charts and shift logs
• Good infection control practices and hygiene awareness
• Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal communication
• Time management and ability to prioritize resident safety
