Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to residents, treating each individual with dignity and respect
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting) to maintain comfort and independence
- Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes in condition to nursing staff promptly
- Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Maintain clean, safe resident environments and follow infection control protocols
- Document care accurately and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families through clear, empathetic communication
Qualifications
- Valid Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent required (Maryland credentials preferred)
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility health requirements
- Reliable transportation and ability to work assigned shifts
- Strong communication skills, compassion, and a team-oriented mindset
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved GNA program or equivalent training
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic resident care
- Basic vital signs measurement and recognition of common changes in condition
- Safe transfer and mobility assistance techniques
- Infection prevention and control practices
- Accurate documentation and basic charting skills
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with nursing staff
