Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to residents, treating each individual with dignity and respect
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting) to maintain comfort and independence
• Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes in condition to nursing staff promptly
• Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Maintain clean, safe resident environments and follow infection control protocols
• Document care accurately and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members
• Build trusting relationships with residents and families through clear, empathetic communication

Qualifications

• Valid Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent required (Maryland credentials preferred)
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility health requirements
• Reliable transportation and ability to work assigned shifts
• Strong communication skills, compassion, and a team-oriented mindset

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA program or equivalent training

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic resident care
• Basic vital signs measurement and recognition of common changes in condition
• Safe transfer and mobility assistance techniques
• Infection prevention and control practices
• Accurate documentation and basic charting skills
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with nursing staff
