Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct, patient-centered nursing care following established policies, procedures and protocols
• Assess patients and implement individualized care plans in the Cath Lab and IR settings
• Monitor, record and communicate changes in patient condition to the care team promptly
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care and act as a primary liaison between physicians, techs and support staff
• Carry out physician and nursing orders accurately and safely
• Participate in discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions from procedure to home
• Support OR/IR coverage and participate in the on-call rotation as scheduled

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse credential from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) required
• Current BLS Provider (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted)
• ACLS certification required
• DCI/BVP certification required
• Nursys registration for license verification
• 1-2 years of cumulative, job-specific clinical experience required; Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology experience strongly preferred
• Willingness to participate in OR/IR coverage and scheduled call rotations (every 3rd weekend; ~16 on-calls per 6-week period)
• Must pass required health screenings and pre-employment testing (drug screen, TB, immunizations, fit test, etc.)

Education

• Required professional licensure/certification as an RN in Illinois; relevant clinical training and certifications (BLS, ACLS, DCI/BVP)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment, monitoring and documentation skills
• Experience implementing and evaluating patient care plans in cardiac catheterization and IR settings
• Familiarity with Cath Lab procedures, sterile technique and procedural flow
• Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary care and communicate effectively with physicians and team members
• Competence in carrying out physician and nursing orders accurately
• Skilled in discharge planning and patient education
• Comfort managing on-call responsibilities and responding to urgent procedural needs
• Proficiency with competency exams and specialty clinical checklists
