Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients using a thorough nursing process and prioritize care based on clinical need
- Develop and implement individualized care plans and evaluate responses to interventions
- Perform continuous hemodynamic monitoring and respond rapidly to clinical changes
- Communicate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary team about patient status and abnormal results
- Provide patient and family education to support recovery and promote safe transitions
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at every step of care
- Direct and guide other nursing personnel to maintain high standards of ICU care
- Complete accurate documentation and required competency checklists and exams
Qualifications
- Current and valid California Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS and ACLS required; PALS and NRP as required by unit
- Minimum of 1 year of staff RN experience in acute care hospital critical care
- CCRN preferred
- Compliance with required immunizations and screenings (MMR, Varicella, TB, drug screen, background check, etc.)
- Ability to work weekends and be flexible with Per Diem scheduling
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment and critical thinking in high-acuity settings
- Care planning, implementation and evaluation using the nursing process
- Experienced with hemodynamic monitoring and interpreting diagnostic data
- Strong patient and family education skills
- Ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality
- Comfort working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary ICU team
- Familiarity with acute care hospital workflows and critical care protocols
- Competence with unit-specific skills and competency checklists
