Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, patient-centered emergency nursing care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
• Deliver direct patient care within scope of practice and respond quickly to changes in condition
• Communicate effectively with physicians and the care team about diagnostic results and patient status
• Guide patient and family teaching and supervise activities of nursing personnel to maintain high standards of care
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
• Recognize and report signs of child or adult abuse to appropriate agencies and hospital social services
• Adhere to EMTALA regulations and hospital policies while working in the Emergency Department

Qualifications

• Current and valid state Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS (required)
• ACLS (required)
• PALS (required)
• NRP (required)
• Negative TB test and required immunizations or documented declination (MMR, Varicella)
• Ability to complete license verification, drug screen, and background check prior to/shortly after start
• NIHSS / Stroke Certification preferred
• COVID vaccination/boosters preferred
• BVP (MAB) training preferred
• Telemetry experience is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong emergency nursing assessment and clinical decision-making skills
• Familiarity with EMTALA regulations and emergency department workflows
• Competence in patient/family education and supervising other nursing staff
• Ability to perform and document patient assessments, plans and interventions accurately
• Experience maintaining patient privacy, confidentiality, and professional standards
• Comfortable responding to acute changes in patient condition and coordinating with the care team
