Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, timely emergency nursing care to patients of all ages in the ED
- Perform rapid assessment, triage, and stabilization of emergent patients
- Collaborate with MDs, advanced practice providers, and the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient plans
- Administer medications and treatments safely according to protocols and documentation standards
- Maintain accurate, timely patient documentation and handoffs
- Participate in unit-based competencies and required testing to ensure ongoing clinical readiness
- Support a patient-centered environment by communicating clearly with patients and families during stressful moments
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (must be verifiable via Nursys or equivalent)
- Current BLS required
- Current ACLS required
- PALS required as applicable for the ED population
- NRP as applicable for neonatal/obstetric care
- Ability to work 12-hour day shifts and weekends
- Per diem experience preferred; willingness to complete Prime exams and competency checklists
- Ability to complete required compliance items (vaccinations/attestations, fit test, drug screen, TB testing) within timelines
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong emergency assessment and triage skills
- Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple acute patients
- Excellent communication and teamwork in high-acuity settings
- Familiarity with ED protocols, medication administration, and documentation systems
- Competence with required clinical competencies and specialty exams (Prime Core Competencies, Prime Specialty Exam)
- Ability to pass fit testing and standard pre-employment health screenings
