Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality peri-procedural care to cardiac catheterization patients
- Assess and monitor patient condition, including cardiac rhythm and hemodynamics
- Assist the interventional team during procedures, maintaining sterile technique
- Administer medications and emergency interventions as ordered and per protocol
- Perform thorough documentation and handoffs to ensure continuity of care
- Collaborate with physicians, techs, and multidisciplinary staff to optimize patient outcomes
- Educate patients and families about procedures, recovery expectations, and discharge plans
- Participate in competency testing and unit quality improvement activities
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (ability to verify via Nursys or state verification)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- PALS and NRP certifications as applicable to role
- Completion of Prime Core Competencies Exam, Prime Skills Checklist, and Prime Specialty Exam
- Up-to-date immunizations and health requirements including MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Influenza, TB test, Tdap, Fit Test, and drug screening
- Ability to complete full compliance profile within two weeks after start date
- Cath lab experience preferred; strong cardiac monitoring and sterile procedure skills
Knowledge & Skills
- In-depth knowledge of cardiac catheterization procedures and cath lab equipment
- Proficient in cardiac monitoring, ACLS protocols, and emergency response
- Strong aseptic technique and ability to maintain sterile field
- Excellent patient assessment, clinical judgment, and critical thinking
- Clear communication skills for teamwork and patient education
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
- Comfort working in fast-paced interventional cardiology environment
