Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, helping with activities of daily living
• Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility and toileting in a respectful way
• Take and record vital signs, report changes to the nursing team promptly
• Document care accurately and timely in resident records
• Support meal assistance and monitor intake as needed
• Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary staff to deliver personalized care plans
• Maintain a safe, clean and comfortable environment for residents
• Engage residents socially to promote emotional well-being and dignity

Qualifications

• GNA certification (required) — you are proud of your credential and it shows
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
• State registration/eligibility to work as a GNA in Maryland
• Background check and health clearances (immunizations) as required by facility
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; patience and empathy
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics preferred but enthusiastic new grads are welcome

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a GNA training program and current certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and ADLs (activities of daily living)
• Comfortable performing resident transfers and mobility assistance safely
• Basic clinical skills: vital signs, feeding assistance, observation/reporting
• Familiarity with infection control and safe handling procedures
• Good documentation practices and ability to follow care plans
• Team-oriented mindset and positive attitude under pressure
