Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive cardiac echocardiography studies, including contrast (Lumason) exams, with precision and care
- Scan abdomen, obstetric (OB), small parts, and vascular studies competently and efficiently
- Operate and maintain sonography equipment to ensure high-quality diagnostic images
- Collaborate with physicians and care teams to provide timely, accurate diagnostic information that impacts patient care
- Deliver excellent patient interactions, guiding and comforting patients throughout procedures
- Participate in coaching and training to support continual departmental improvement and mentor peers
- Document procedures and maintain accurate records in accordance with hospital policies
Qualifications
- Completion of an ARDMS-approved Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or CCI certification (required)
- Proficiency in cardiac sonography, including contrast (Lumason) studies
- Skilled in abdominal, OB, small parts, and vascular sonography
- Minimum 2 years acute care sonography experience (required)
- Strong communication and guest relations skills with a teamwork mindset
- Experience with sonography equipment operation and routine maintenance
- Coaching and training experience preferred
Education
- ARDMS-approved course in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certificate
Knowledge & Skills
- In-depth knowledge of General, Cardiac, and Vascular Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- Hands-on skill with contrast echocardiography (Lumason)
- Ability to obtain clear diagnostic images across multiple sonography specialties
- Excellent patient communication and bedside manner
- Comfortable teaching and mentoring less experienced technologists
- Familiarity with hospital workflows and acute care environments
