Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor telemetry and cardiac patients closely on a 16-bed remote tele unit to keep patients safe and stable
- Interpret, measure and document cardiac rhythms twice per shift per departmental expectation — accuracy matters
- Provide high-quality med-tele care to adult and geriatric patients, maintaining excellent assessment and documentation
- Use EPIC proficiently for charting, med administration, and communication with the interdisciplinary team
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice clinicians, and the unit team to coordinate timely patient care
- Follow unit policies including dress code, attendance reliability, and compliance requirements for travel staff
- Complete required onboarding training (Welle or CPI) and meet facility screening and licensure validation
- Be a visible patient advocate — prioritize safety, dignity, and excellent bedside care on every shift
Qualifications
- Active New York RN license (required) — travelers must upload NY Temporary Health Care Service Agency registration when submitting
- Minimum 3 years nursing experience (required), with strong recent experience on Cardiac/Telemetry or Med-Tele units
- Must have EPIC experience (required) — please note on submission to avoid delays
- Current ACLS (AHA) and BLS (AHA) certifications (required)
- Must be able to interpret cardiac rhythms and document them twice per shift (department expectation)
- Own vehicle required for this assignment (required)
- Travel nurse experience, neuro/stroke experience, and previous Glens Falls or Albany Med experience are highly preferred
- Reliable attendance record with no recent call-out/attendance concerns
Education
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York (education: nursing diploma/associate/BSN as applicable — RN licensure required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
- Proficiency with EPIC clinical documentation and workflows
- Skilled in adult-geriatric assessment and med-tele nursing care
- Ability to follow departmental protocols for rhythm measurement and documentation
- Familiarity with state compliance and licensure processes for travel staff
- Effective communication, teamwork, and clinical decision-making under pressure
- De-escalation skills (CPI or Welle verbal de-escalation training recommended/required for onboarding)
