Roles & Responsibilities

• Process, decontaminate and sterilize surgical instruments and medical devices with precision
• Inspect, assemble and package instrument sets to meet surgical team needs
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment and document cycle parameters
• Maintain accurate tracking and records to support patient safety and regulatory compliance
• Collaborate with perioperative teams to ensure timely instrument availability
• Participate in competency testing and continuous quality improvement activities
• Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on SPD equipment

Qualifications

• Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist (required)
• Pre-employment requirements: Trinity 10 Panel Drug Screen, color vision screening, fit test, physical/health statement
• Required immunizations or documentation: COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, and 2-step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot)
• Sterile processing certification or training preferred (CSPDT or equivalent)
• Prior experience in sterile processing or central sterile preferred
• Strong attention to detail, ability to follow infection control protocols, and reliable attendance

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Sterile Processing Technician certificate or related training preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of sterilization methods, instrument identification and handling
• Familiarity with sterilization equipment operation and cycle documentation
• Understanding of infection prevention principles and regulatory standards
• Strong manual dexterity and organizational skills
• Ability to read and follow manufacturer instrument instructions
• Effective communication and teamwork skills
• Comfort with standing for extended periods and safe handling of supplies
