Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality MedSurg nursing care to adult patients using evidence-based practices
• Perform thorough patient assessments and communicate findings clearly to the care team
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and document all care in the medical record
• Coordinate discharge planning and patient education to support successful transitions home
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Participate in required specialty competency testing and skills checklists to maintain unit standards

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state licensure verification required)
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• MedSurg clinical experience (preferred) and comfort with adult medical-surgical patients
• Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist as required
• Required pre-employment health screenings: fit test, drug screen, physical/health statement, color vision, and immunizations (COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, Tdap, PPD/IGRA)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong MedSurg assessment and clinical decision-making skills
• Clinical documentation and electronic charting proficiency
• Infection control and patient safety best practices
• Ability to triage and prioritize care in a fast-paced unit
• Team-oriented communication and collaboration skills
• Adaptability to unit protocols and specialty competency requirements
