Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry continuously to keep patients safe and informed
- Measure and document cardiac rhythms twice per shift per department expectations
- Provide high-quality Med-Tele/cardiac nursing care across adult to geriatric populations
- Use EPIC to maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and communicate with the care team
- Administer medications and treatments while closely monitoring response and safety
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary team members
- Educate patients and families about rhythm findings, care plans, and discharge instructions
- Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately
Qualifications
- Active New York Registered Nurse license (must be current and uploaded with profile)
- New York Temporary Health Care Service Agency License/Registration Certificate uploaded up front (required for temporary staffing)
- ACLS (AHA) — current
- BLS (AHA) — current
- Minimum 3 years of clinical experience, with strong telemetry/Med-Tele or cardiac experience (required)
- Proven EPIC experience — MUST HAVE (required)
- Comfortable interpreting, measuring & documenting cardiac rhythms twice per shift
- Own reliable vehicle for travel assignment (required)
- One supervisory signed reference from within the past two years
- Ability to pass a 14-panel drug screen within 24 hours of offer acceptance
- Welle (verbal de-escalation bundle) OR CPI training completed for onboarding (required)
- Reliable attendance record — punctuality and consistency are essential for this patient-oriented unit
- Permanent address in profile that matches driver’s license/ID (address validation required)
- Travelers with permanent addresses in certain NY counties (Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Fulton, Greene, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Ulster, Warren, Washington) will not be considered for this assignment
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation expertise
- Strong cardiac care and Med-Tele clinical judgment
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record workflows
- Ability to measure and document cardiac rhythms accurately and consistently
- Patient assessment, prioritization, and critical thinking in acute care settings
- Clear communication with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team
- Comfort managing adult to geriatric patient populations
- Familiarity with hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection control practices
