Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients’ functional abilities and occupational performance to create meaningful, goal-driven plans of care
- Design and implement individualized therapeutic interventions to improve independence in activities of daily living
- Collaborate closely with nursing, rehab, and support staff to coordinate holistic patient care
- Document clinical progress clearly and timely to support continuity and outcomes tracking
- Educate patients and caregivers on strategies, adaptive equipment, and home programs to maximize recovery
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to advocate for patient needs and optimize discharge planning
- Adapt treatments based on patient response and continuously measure outcomes to drive quality improvements
Qualifications
- Current, active Occupational Therapist license valid in California (required)
- Certification and registration consistent with state requirements (OTR/OT licensure)
- Experience providing occupational therapy in rehab, skilled nursing, or outpatient settings preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills with patient-centered focus
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
Education
- Degree in Occupational Therapy (Master’s or Doctorate preferred) or as required for state licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in ADL/IADL assessment and treatment planning
- Knowledge of therapeutic modalities, adaptive equipment, and home safety evaluations
- Proficient clinical documentation and outcome measurement
- Ability to develop creative, functional interventions tailored to each patient
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced rehab environment with varied caseloads
- Strong interpersonal skills for patient and family education
- Familiarity with state licensure standards and rehab best practices
