Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and treat communication and swallowing disorders for patients in a rehabilitation setting
• Develop individualized treatment plans and set measurable goals with patients and families
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including PT, OT, nursing and physicians to optimize patient outcomes
• Provide thorough documentation, progress notes and discharge planning in a timely manner
• Educate patients, families and caregivers on strategies to support communication and safe swallowing at home
• Use evidence-based interventions and adapt therapy to meet each patient’s functional needs

Qualifications

• Valid California Speech-Language Pathology license or eligibility to obtain state licensure
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred
• Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Experience in acute care or inpatient rehabilitation preferred, but motivated new grads with strong clinical skills are encouraged to apply
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a collaborative care team
• Ability to maintain accurate documentation and meet facility compliance requirements

Education

• Master’s or clinical Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology (CASLPA, ASHA-accredited preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in assessment and treatment of dysphagia and cognitive-communication disorders
• Familiarity with evidence-based SLP interventions across the adult rehab population
• Comfortable using electronic medical records for documentation
• Strong clinical reasoning, patient-centered goal setting and progress measurement
• Ability to train and educate caregivers and interdisciplinary staff
