Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care under provider supervision, delivering compassionate, pediatric-focused support
- Perform phlebotomy/venipuncture and point-of-care testing accurately and efficiently
- Take vital signs, administer injections as directed, and prep patients for office procedures
- Room patients and manage patient flow to keep clinic operations running smoothly
- Collect and properly label specimens and ensure timely handoff to the lab
- Document clinical care and patient interactions accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Answer phone calls and triage patient inquiries, escalating to providers when appropriate
- Maintain medical/surgical asepsis and infection control practices to protect patients and staff
- Participate in continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities and model Valley Regional Hospital culture
Qualifications
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant required (AAMA preferred — please upload certification with profile)
- Minimum 2 years of clinical practice experience — pediatric experience required and non-negotiable
- Phlebotomy / venipuncture experience required
- Active American Heart Association BLS (AHA) required (upload document)
- Valid driver’s license and own vehicle required (facility will not consider candidates residing within 50 miles)
- Permanent address and any requested time-off (RTO) must be included in your profile at submission
Education
- Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA or equivalent) required
- Active BLS (AHA) certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong pediatric clinical skills and comfort working with children and families
- Proficiency with EMR documentation and basic computer-based clinical programs
- Point-of-care testing competency and specimen collection technique
- Infection control, medical/surgical asepsis, and safe patient prepping/positioning
- Excellent interpersonal and telephone triage skills
- Ability to manage patient flow, room patients efficiently, and meet clinic scheduling demands
- Familiarity with outpatient specialties (internal medicine, family practice, ortho, general surgery, urology, gyn/ob, pulmonary) is a plus
