Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care for adult and geriatric cardiac/telemetry patients
- Continuously monitor telemetry and interpret cardiac rhythms, documenting rhythm checks twice per shift
- Assess patient condition and intervene promptly for changes in cardiac status
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
- Maintain accurate electronic health record (EPIC) documentation and charting
- Educate patients and families about cardiac conditions, treatments, and discharge planning
- Adhere to unit policies, infection control, and all compliance/training requirements
Qualifications
- Active New York RN license (must upload current license with profile)
- New York Temporary Health Care Service Agency License/Registration Certificate required for agency travelers
- Minimum 3 years of nursing experience, with strong telemetry/Cardiac/Med-Tele experience
- EPIC experience is required — must be comfortable navigating the system
- ACLS (AHA) and BLS (AHA) current and uploaded
- Own reliable vehicle for commuting to the facility
- Reliable attendance record — no recent call-outs or attendance concerns
- One supervisory signed reference from the past two years
- Completion of Welle or CPI verbal de-escalation training for onboarding (per facility requirement)
- Ability to complete a 14-panel drug screen within 24 hours of offer acceptance
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation — comfortable with continuous cardiac surveillance
- Strong EPIC documentation skills and familiarity with electronic charting workflows
- Med-Tele and Cardiac/Tele unit workflows, including RN:patient ratio of approximately 4:1
- Neuro/stroke care experience a plus for this unit
- Verbal de-escalation techniques (Welle or CPI) and safe patient management
- Ability to follow department expectations for rhythm measurement and documentation
- Attention to detail for compliance checks: permanent address verification, license/cert uploads, and drug screen processes
