Shift Type: Monday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM (day). Alternate option: 1 day per week Monday or Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM or 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM (10-hour day). Two-week training period required.
Hours per Week: 10
Candidate Pay Rate: $49 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality psychiatric assessments and diagnostic evaluations for patients in the mental health area
- Manage psychopharmacologic treatments and monitor medication efficacy and safety
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nursing, psychology and correctional staff to coordinate care
- Document clinical encounters clearly and timely in the patient record
- Participate in training and orientation activities during the required two-week training period
- Contribute to treatment planning and recommendations that improve patient outcomes in a correctional setting
Qualifications
- Active MD or DO degree with psychiatry training
- Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry preferred
- Valid California medical license or eligibility to obtain one
- Willingness and ability to complete a two-week on-site training/orientation
- Comfort working in a correctional healthcare environment and passing required background checks
- Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills
Knowledge & Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of psychopharmacology and psychiatric treatment modalities
- Experience with psychiatric assessment, risk evaluation and crisis intervention
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Familiarity with clinical documentation and electronic medical records
- Cultural sensitivity and effective communication with diverse patient populations
- Ability to follow security protocols and operate within a correctional healthcare setting
