Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on occupational therapy interventions under the direction of an OTR to help patients regain independence
• Assist with assessments, document progress, and implement care plans that improve daily living skills
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate therapies and ensure continuity of care
• Educate patients and families on adaptive techniques and home programs to support long-term recovery
• Maintain meticulous documentation and comply with facility policies and regulatory standards
• Support a positive, therapeutic environment that encourages patient engagement and functional gains

Qualifications

• Current COTA certification (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant)
• State licensure or eligibility to obtain occupational therapy assistant licensure in California
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification preferred or required by facility
• Proven experience in post-acute, rehab, or skilled nursing settings is a plus
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team

Education

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or equivalent accredited program

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in implementing therapeutic modalities, ADL training, and adaptive equipment recommendations
• Knowledge of documentation standards, care planning, and outcome measurement
• Comfortable working with a diverse adult and geriatric population
• Ability to prioritize caseloads, multitask, and adapt to changing patient needs
• Competent with electronic health records and basic computer navigation
