Roles & Responsibilities
- Implement occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of the OT to help patients regain daily living skills
- Deliver person-centered care by adapting activities to each patient’s functional abilities and goals
- Document patient progress clearly and promptly, ensuring continuity of care and regulatory compliance
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams including nurses, therapists, and family members to maximize outcomes
- Educate patients and caregivers on safe techniques, adaptive equipment, and home strategies to support independence
- Maintain therapy equipment, ensure a safe environment, and follow infection control and facility protocols
Qualifications
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) — required
- Completion of an accredited OTA program or equivalent clinical training
- Current state registration or licensure as required to practice in California (please ensure you meet state requirements)
- Demonstrated ability to document clinical progress and follow treatment plans
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team
Education
- Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of occupational therapy techniques and adaptive strategies
- Skilled in patient transfers, functional mobility training, and ADL retraining
- Comfortable with clinical documentation and goal-oriented progress notes
- Able to instruct and coach patients and caregivers in practical, easy-to-follow ways
- Knowledge of infection control, safety protocols, and equipment maintenance
