Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough admission interviews and complete systematic physical and behavioral assessments
• Develop, implement, and revise individualized patient care plans to support recovery
• Provide direct patient care on the Adult Chemical Dependency unit and float to inpatient behavioral health/detox when needed
• Document patient conditions, care provided, and patient responses accurately and promptly
• Lead and facilitate therapeutic groups to support patient education and engagement
• Deliver patient education focused on detox, withdrawal management, and relapse prevention
• Monitor patient safety closely and apply restraint/seclusion procedures when clinically indicated and in accordance with validated competency
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate services and referrals

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
• Behavioral health nursing experience required — you’ve worked with detox and psychiatric patients
• BLS certification required
• CPI training required and validated competency in restraints/seclusion
• Demonstrated competency in admission interviewing, care planning, documentation, and group facilitation
• Comfort working with patients ages 15 and older
• Willingness to float between Adult Behavioral Health and Detox units
• Clean licensure and background record — travelers with licensure/background hits will not be considered
• Not a previous employee of St. Mary's (per facility policy)

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and systematic admission interviewing
• Care planning and implementation for chemical dependency and co-occurring psychiatric diagnoses
• Strong clinical documentation and charting skills
• Group facilitation and patient education techniques
• Monitoring, observation, and de-escalation skills in behavioral health settings
• Competency in restraints and seclusion procedures and post-event care
• Ability to work autonomously during night shifts and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
