Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality emergency nursing care to patients across the lifespan with compassion and clinical skill
- Perform rapid triage and initial assessment to prioritize care in a fast-paced ED environment
- Administer medications, IV therapy and emergency interventions according to protocols
- Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the ED team to coordinate patient care
- Monitor patient status continuously and escalate concerns promptly to ensure safe outcomes
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the medical record and support smooth patient throughput
- Participate in required competency testing, skills checklists and specialty training to keep skills sharp
- Support unit readiness for holidays and weekend coverage as part of the rotating schedule
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license (license/certificate verification required)
- Certifications required: BLS, PALS, ACLS, TNCC, NIHSS
- Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist as part of onboarding
- Required personal health screenings and immunizations as listed (e.g., TB screening, MMR, Hepatitis B, COVID-19, influenza)
- Comfort working in a high-acuity emergency room setting and collaborating in a team environment
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong emergency assessment and triage skills
- Experience with trauma care fundamentals and rapid stabilization
- Neurological assessment skills including NIHSS familiarity
- Ability to administer and monitor critical medications and IV therapies
- Clear, efficient communication and teamwork under pressure
- Proficient documentation practices and adherence to hospital policies
