Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to progressive care unit patients with thoughtful clinical judgment
- Monitor and interpret telemetry and vital signs, intervening early when trends indicate change
- Administer medications and treatments safely and document thoroughly in the patient record
- Perform focused neurological assessments using NIHSS when indicated and escalate concerns promptly
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and execute individualized patient care plans
- Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and discharge planning in clear, compassionate language
- Participate in unit-specific competency testing and quality improvement activities to advance patient safety
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state licensure verification required)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required
- NIHSS certification required or willingness to obtain
- Successful completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and specialty competency testing as noted
- Required health screenings and immunizations (COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, 2-step PPD or IGRA, fit test, physical/health statement, Trinity 10 panel drug screen, color vision)
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfort and competence in progressive care/PCU patient management and monitoring
- Telemetry interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
- Strong critical thinking and rapid assessment skills during night shifts
- Effective communication and teamwork across disciplines
- Accurate medication administration and documentation practices
- Familiarity with stroke assessment (NIHSS) and acute care workflows
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time in a fast-paced environment
