Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to progressive care unit patients with thoughtful clinical judgment
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and vital signs, intervening early when trends indicate change
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document thoroughly in the patient record
• Perform focused neurological assessments using NIHSS when indicated and escalate concerns promptly
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and execute individualized patient care plans
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and discharge planning in clear, compassionate language
• Participate in unit-specific competency testing and quality improvement activities to advance patient safety

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state licensure verification required)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required
• NIHSS certification required or willingness to obtain
• Successful completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and specialty competency testing as noted
• Required health screenings and immunizations (COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, 2-step PPD or IGRA, fit test, physical/health statement, Trinity 10 panel drug screen, color vision)

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfort and competence in progressive care/PCU patient management and monitoring
• Telemetry interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Strong critical thinking and rapid assessment skills during night shifts
• Effective communication and teamwork across disciplines
• Accurate medication administration and documentation practices
• Familiarity with stroke assessment (NIHSS) and acute care workflows
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time in a fast-paced environment
