Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate MS/Telemetry nursing care for adult and geriatric patients in a short-term acute care teaching hospital
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms; recognize and respond to dysrhythmias and cardiac emergencies
- Manage IVs, PICC and central lines, administer blood products, and follow heparin and PCA protocols with precision
- Perform advanced wound care including wound vac management and care of surgical drains, hemovacs and JP drains
- Assist with chest tube management and respiratory modalities including HFNC, CPAP/BIPAP and oxygen therapy
- Participate on Rapid Response and Code teams to stabilize patients quickly and effectively
- Document thoroughly and efficiently in Epic to ensure clear communication and continuity of care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members — respiratory, PT, pharmacy, social services and more — to optimize patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Current, active RN license (North Carolina) — pending licenses are not accepted
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (must be current)
- Minimum 2 years of MS/Telemetry nursing experience preferred (experience with 1:5 patient ratios expected)
- Proven experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and emergency response
- Epic charting experience required
- Comfortable managing high-acuity patients (neuro/ortho trauma, chest tubes, wound vacs) and working in a Level III trauma/teaching environment
- First-time travel nurses are welcome — travel experience is not required
Education
- Active RN license in North Carolina (required)
- Formal nursing education (ADN, diploma or BSN) — facility does not specify a minimum degree on the posting
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry and cardiac monitoring with dysrhythmia recognition and management
- IV therapy including starting/maintaining IVs, PICC and central line care
- Blood product administration and adherence to transfusion protocols
- Wound care, wound vacs and management of surgical drains
- Chest tube care and familiarity with Emerson/PleurEvac systems
- Respiratory support skills: nasal cannula, HFNC, CPAP/BIPAP and oxygen tank management
- Neurological care familiarity: craniotomy, lumbar drains, seizure management and post-neurosurgery care
- Comfortable using Epic for documentation and care coordination
- Strong teamwork, critical thinking and rapid response skills in emergency situations
