Registered Nurse - Stepdown/PCU
Location: Grand Island, NE

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (Days: 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM; Nights: 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM). Schedule assigned by unit; every other weekend; holidays as needed. Unit schedulers will make traveler schedules.
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $65 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor stepdown/PCU patients using strong clinical judgment and timely telemetry interpretation
- Administer and titrate IV medications and drips (Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Insulin) safely and according to protocol
- Provide comprehensive patient care for a wide range of diagnoses including STEMI, CHF, stroke, sepsis, COPD, DKA, and multisystem failure
- Collaborate closely with CNAs, charge nurses, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to deliver coordinated care
- Document accurately and thoroughly in EPIC, perform bedside reporting, and maintain hourly rounding to enhance patient experience
- Support patient throughput by admitting and discharging patients efficiently while maintaining high quality care
- Float to MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled Care as needed to meet unit demands
- Complete required orientation, participate in skills training, and pass the open-book orientation exam (90% required)
Qualifications
- Active RN licensure (eligible to submit) required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required at time of submission
- Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care/stepdown experience
- Proven experience with telemetry monitoring and interpretation
- Competence with IV medication administration and titratable drip management
- Comfortable working 12-hour shifts and meeting weekend/holiday requirements
- Driver's license required at time of submission
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and pass required orientation exam (90% pass threshold)
Education
- Active RN license required
- BSN not listed as required
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry/monitor interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
- IV titration and management of common drips
- Strong patient assessment and clinical prioritization skills
- Familiarity with EPIC charting system
- Experience collaborating with CNAs and charge nurses
- Respiratory support familiarity including BiPAP and Airvo
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and time management
