Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality ultrasound exams for general, obstetric, and vascular patients using established protocols
• Verify patient and procedural information and prepare patients for examinations with clear, compassionate communication
• Acquire diagnostic images, evaluate image quality, and ensure studies are complete for radiologist interpretation
• Explain procedures and monitor patients during scans to ensure safety and comfort
• Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment and set up exam rooms with necessary supplies
• Communicate findings and transmit reports to physicians and assist in compiling data for radiology review
• Follow safety measures and regulatory guidelines to protect patients and staff
• Maintain clinical competencies through participation in hospital and departmental education programs

Qualifications

• ARDMS certification required (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography)
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required
• Minimum 3 years clinical ultrasound experience
• Graduated from an accredited sonography or radiologic technology program (JRCRTE)
• Ability to speak, read, and write English effectively for patient care and documentation
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotation as required by the facility

Education

• Graduation from an approved sonography or radiologic technology program (JRCRTE)
• Registry completion through ARDMS or ARRT per facility requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in ultrasound imaging and image acquisition techniques for general, OB, and vascular studies
• Skilled in patient preparation, positioning, and monitoring during exams
• Ability to evaluate image quality and troubleshoot imaging challenges
• Familiarity with safety and regulatory compliance in diagnostic imaging
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with physicians, radiologists, and patients
• Experience with room setup, equipment cleaning, and maintaining clinical competency
• Comfortable with basic radiology reporting workflow and data organization
