Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate and skilled occupational therapy care under the supervising therapist to help patients regain independence
- Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans and therapeutic interventions
- Monitor and document patient progress accurately and timely in clinical records
- Collaborate with therapists, nurses, and other care team members to coordinate patient care
- Educate patients and families on adaptive strategies, home programs, and safe functional techniques
- Maintain and prepare therapy equipment and treatment areas to ensure patient safety and readiness
Qualifications
- Current COTA credential (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant) required
- Active authorization to practice in California (state registration/licensure as applicable)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Clear background check and up-to-date immunizations as required by client
- Comfortable working day shifts and collaborating in a multidisciplinary team
- Professional communication skills and a positive, patient-centered attitude
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program or equivalent
- Completion of COTA certification program
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of occupational therapy principles and intervention techniques
- Skilled in patient handling, adaptive equipment, and functional task training
- Proficient documentation practices and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills for patient and family education
- Ability to follow treatment plans and adapt interventions to individual needs
- Time management and organizational skills to handle caseload efficiently
