Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and respect
• Support meal service and assist with feeding as needed, monitoring intake and reporting concerns
• Take and record vital signs, observe changes in condition, and promptly communicate with nursing staff
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents
• Document care accurately and timely in the resident record and report incidents per facility policy
• Provide compassionate companionship and engage residents in social or recreational activities to enhance quality of life
• Follow infection control practices and contribute to a culture of safety

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatric settings is a plus
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with nursing staff
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach and reliable attendance

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic nursing assistant duties and resident care practices
• Skill in safe transfer and mobility techniques
• Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
• Familiarity with infection control and basic safety protocols
• Good observational skills for recognizing changes in resident condition
• Comfortable with documentation and following care plans
