Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and respect
- Support meal service and assist with feeding as needed, monitoring intake and reporting concerns
- Take and record vital signs, observe changes in condition, and promptly communicate with nursing staff
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents
- Document care accurately and timely in the resident record and report incidents per facility policy
- Provide compassionate companionship and engage residents in social or recreational activities to enhance quality of life
- Follow infection control practices and contribute to a culture of safety
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatric settings is a plus
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with nursing staff
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach and reliable attendance
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic nursing assistant duties and resident care practices
- Skill in safe transfer and mobility techniques
- Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
- Familiarity with infection control and basic safety protocols
- Good observational skills for recognizing changes in resident condition
- Comfortable with documentation and following care plans
