Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist licensed physical therapists in delivering evidence-based rehabilitation plans to help patients regain function and independence
- Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfers, and balance activities with attention to safety and progress
- Document patient assessments, treatment notes, and response to interventions accurately and timely
- Educate patients and caregivers on home programs, adaptive strategies, and injury prevention
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support coordinated, patient-centered care
- Prepare and maintain treatment areas and equipment, ensuring infection control and safety standards
- Monitor and report changes in patient status to the supervising therapist and contribute to discharge planning
- Demonstrate compassion and professionalism while promoting patient dignity and motivation
Qualifications
- Current PTA license in New Hampshire or eligible to obtain state licensure prior to start
- Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (Associate degree or equivalent)
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required; other certifications a plus
- Comfortable working across a variety of diagnoses commonly seen in outpatient/rehab settings
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team
- Professional, reliable, and committed to high-quality patient care
Education
- Associate degree or diploma from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Completion of clinical education components required for PTA licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with therapeutic exercise prescription, gait training, and assistive device fitting
- Skilled in safe patient transfers and mobility techniques
- Knowledge of documentation best practices and electronic medical records
- Ability to adapt treatments to meet individual patient goals and cultural needs
- Good clinical judgment, time management, and organizational skills
- Comfortable using common therapeutic modalities and rehab equipment
