Roles & Responsibilities
- Advocate for patients by listening, answering questions, and ensuring their concerns are addressed promptly
- Manage patient registration tasks accurately and efficiently to keep the admissions process smooth
- Verify insurance information and assist patients in understanding coverage and next steps
- Uphold strict confidentiality standards to protect patient privacy and comply with facility policies
- Work independently to triage issues, escalate appropriately, and follow through until resolution
- Partner with clinical and administrative teams to improve the patient experience and reduce barriers to care
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent hospital experience as a Patient Relations Advocate (required)
- High school diploma (required); additional customer service or healthcare coursework is a plus
- Proven experience with registration and insurance verification processes
- Strong track record of maintaining patient confidentiality and professional judgment
- Ability to work independently and hit the ground running in a busy hospital setting
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license — this is a community without public transit
- At least one supervisory signed reference from within the past two years (required)
Education
- High school diploma (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Deep understanding of patient relations best practices and patient-centered communication
- Familiarity with hospital registration workflows and insurance terminology
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to de-escalate and resolve sensitive situations
- Solid organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate record-keeping
- Comfort working autonomously and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams
- Professional demeanor, empathy, and cultural sensitivity when interacting with diverse patients
