Roles & Responsibilities

• Advocate for patients by listening, answering questions, and ensuring their concerns are addressed promptly
• Manage patient registration tasks accurately and efficiently to keep the admissions process smooth
• Verify insurance information and assist patients in understanding coverage and next steps
• Uphold strict confidentiality standards to protect patient privacy and comply with facility policies
• Work independently to triage issues, escalate appropriately, and follow through until resolution
• Partner with clinical and administrative teams to improve the patient experience and reduce barriers to care

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent hospital experience as a Patient Relations Advocate (required)
• High school diploma (required); additional customer service or healthcare coursework is a plus
• Proven experience with registration and insurance verification processes
• Strong track record of maintaining patient confidentiality and professional judgment
• Ability to work independently and hit the ground running in a busy hospital setting
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license — this is a community without public transit
• At least one supervisory signed reference from within the past two years (required)

Education

• High school diploma (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Deep understanding of patient relations best practices and patient-centered communication
• Familiarity with hospital registration workflows and insurance terminology
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to de-escalate and resolve sensitive situations
• Solid organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate record-keeping
• Comfort working autonomously and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams
• Professional demeanor, empathy, and cultural sensitivity when interacting with diverse patients
