Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop individualized treatment plans to improve swallowing, cognitive-communication, and speech abilities
- Provide dysphagia (swallowing) therapy to reduce aspiration risk and improve safety
- Deliver meaningful communication therapy to help residents understand and be understood
- Lead, guide, and direct speech-language pathology and audiology services in the facility
- Ensure care and documentation meet local, state, and federal regulations and facility policies
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create coordinated, resident-centered care plans
- Coach and mentor staff to maintain high-quality service delivery and clinical consistency
Qualifications
- Texas state SLP license or participation in the licensure compact (TX License or compact) — required
- Minimum 2 years of speech-language pathology (SLP) experience — required
- Ability to provide required license documentation at time of submission
- Strong clinical leadership and communication skills to lead services within the facility
- Comfortable with treatment planning and maintaining timely, accurate documentation
Knowledge & Skills
- Treatment planning for speech, language, cognition, and swallowing disorders
- Dysphagia (swallowing) therapy and aspiration risk management
- Cognitive-communication therapy techniques for older adults
- Speech-Language Pathology principles and best practices
- Basic audiology awareness to support interdisciplinary care
- Clinical leadership, teaching, and team collaboration skills
