Shift Type: Friday-Sunday, 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM Day shift (3x12-hour, block schedule; occasional holidays; may require floating to other facilities)
Hours per Week: 60
Candidate Pay Rate: $34 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Decontaminate and disinfect surgical instruments and specialty equipment with precision and care to keep patients safe
- Assemble, inspect and organize instrument sets and case carts across multiple service lines, including trauma and specialty trays
- Manage sterilization processes using Sterrad and steam protocols and perform biological/chemical indicator monitoring
- Perform high-level disinfection and flexible endoscope reprocessing using AERs and manual cleaning where appropriate
- Serve as an OR liaison to coordinate instrumentation flow between sterile processing and operating rooms
- Use Censitrac (and related equipment documentation) to track, allocate and standardize instrument trays across the enterprise
- Procure, standardize and maintain instrument trays and ensure aseptic handling and sterile storage practices
- Float between reprocessing sites within the health system (Ross Heart Hospital, James Cancer Hospital, ambulatory sites, etc.) as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years sterile processing/instrumentation experience (HARD STOP — 3 years required)
- CBSPD or CRCST required; IAHCSMM/HSPA credentials preferred
- Experience with Sterrad, steam sterilization, HLD and Automated Endoscope Reprocessors (AER)
- Experience with flexible endoscope types (EBUS, EUS, ERCP, colonoscopes, bronchoscopes, etc.)
- Censitrac tracking system experience and equipment documentation skills
- Trauma Level II experience required; teaching hospital experience required; experience in Level I trauma facilities preferred
- Medivator and Da Vinci Xi familiarity preferred
- Willingness to float across multiple sites and work scheduled weekend/block shifts
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
- Able to complete 40 hours of orientation
Knowledge & Skills
- Decontamination & disinfection best practices
- Instrument assembly, tray/sets organization and preference cards
- Sterilization methods: Sterrad and steam, biological and chemical indicators
- High-level disinfection and flexible endoscope reprocessing
- Automated Endoscope Reprocessors (AER), ultrasonic cleaners, washers/sterilizers
- Censitrac tracking system and equipment documentation
- Specialty equipment processing across multiple service lines (cardiac, neuro, robotics, orthopedics, OB/GYN, transplant, urology, etc.)
- OR liaison communication and case cart coordination
- Aseptic technique and sterile storage management
