Roles & Responsibilities
- Set up and monitor comprehensive sleep studies across 10–12 hour overnight protocols
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot sleep lab equipment independently during studies
- Score and evaluate polysomnograms to provide actionable diagnostic data
- Administer therapies per physician orders and adjust therapy during studies as needed
- Provide clear, compassionate patient education about sleep disorders and treatment
- Serve as primary contact for physicians, patients, and outreach accounts with diagnostic consultation
- Document findings thoroughly and maintain accurate, timely reports and records
- Support outreach, inservices, and community education about sleep health
Qualifications
- Graduate of an AMA-approved school for respiratory care or an accredited nursing program (required)
- Montana licensure as a Respiratory Therapist or as a Registered Nurse (required)
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT/RPSGT) credential (required)
- American Heart Association BLS certification (required)
- Preferred: minimum 24 months sleep disorder testing experience and routine EEG experience
- Ability to work independently overnight and troubleshoot equipment without immediate assistance
- Strong communication skills and comfort providing patient education and outreach
- Willingness to work consecutive 12-hour night shifts and participate in on-call rotation as needed
Education
- Graduate of an AMA-approved school for respiratory care or nursing (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on polysomnography setup, monitoring, and scoring expertise
- Proven ability to operate and troubleshoot sleep lab and monitoring equipment
- Knowledge of sleep disorders testing protocols and therapy administration
- Detail-oriented documentation and reporting skills for clinical records
- Culturally and age-appropriate patient care and education skills
- Comfort working independently in overnight clinical environments
- Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, families, and providers
- Basic familiarity with infection control, safety, and equipment maintenance
