Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to geriatric patients
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and toileting
- Support safe mobility and transfers following facility protocols
- Monitor and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and assistance provided
- Follow infection control and safety procedures to protect residents and staff
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver consistent care
Qualifications
- GNA classification / Geriatric Nursing Assistant experience (as indicated by the job class)
- Current certification/licensure if required by the facility or state (check facility requirements)
- Comfort working evenings and a flexible per diem schedule
- Demonstrated compassion, patience, and strong communication with residents and families
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with resident care and safe transfers
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- GNA certification or equivalent training (facility/state requirements apply)
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and dignity-focused support
- Skill assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Basic observation and reporting of resident condition changes
- Familiarity with safe handling and infection control practices
- Clear verbal and written communication for teamwork and documentation
