Roles & Responsibilities

• Circulate in the operating room for orthopedic, endoscopy, and general surgery cases to ensure smooth, safe procedures
• Coordinate perioperative patient care from pre-op through PACU handoff, advocating for patient safety and comfort
• Maintain sterile field and adhere to strict infection control practices throughout each case
• Prepare the OR and necessary instrumentation, anticipating surgeon and team needs
• Perform accurate counts and documentation to support a safe surgical environment
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, techs, and nursing staff to optimize patient outcomes
• Communicate clearly with patients and families as appropriate, providing reassurance and perioperative education

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) — active licensure required
• Proven experience as an OR circulator with strong orthopedic surgery experience (priority)
• Perioperative nursing experience including endoscopy and general surgery cases
• Comfort working a fast-paced OR environment and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
• Willingness to accept shared housing accommodations when necessary and adapt to travel assignment logistics

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and OR workflow
• Ability to anticipate surgical team needs and manage supplies and equipment
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in high-stakes environments
• Competence in perioperative documentation, counts, and patient safety protocols
• Calm, organized approach to problem-solving during procedures and unexpected events
