Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts including weekends and holidays. Day: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (typically 3x12-hour day shifts per block, includes Saturday/Sunday for day blocks). Night: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (typically 3x12-hour night shifts per block, with weekend night coverage often Friday/Saturday). Up to 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule period; minimum 4 weekend shifts per 4-week block; no call.
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess critically ill cardiac and post-operative patients and develop individualized, high-quality care plans
- Monitor hemodynamics and manage Swan-Ganz and pulmonary artery lines to guide therapy
- Operate and manage ventilators, titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips, and interpret ABGs to optimize respiratory and circulatory support
- Manage mechanical circulatory support devices including IABP, Impella and VADs and support ECMO patients as needed
- Perform advanced procedures such as IV starts, chest tube care, and central line/PICC management safely and efficiently
- Document all care accurately in Epic and communicate changes promptly to the interdisciplinary team
- Collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, respiratory therapy and other specialists to coordinate complex patient care
- Mentor and support colleagues when floating to units of equivalent or lower acuity to maintain high standards of care
Qualifications
- BLS and ACLS required
- Epic charting experience required
- 2 years of Cardiac ICU or CVICU experience preferred
- Previous travel nurse experience preferred
- Flu vaccine required per facility guideline (medical exemptions allowed); COVID-19 vaccine not required
- Experience with 1:1 to 1:2 critical care patient ratios and post-cardiac surgery care
Knowledge & Skills
- Hemodynamic monitoring and Swan-Ganz/pulmonary artery line management
- Ventilator management and tracheostomy care
- Balloon pumps, IABP, Impella and familiarity with VAD/ECMO care
- CRRT/CVVHD knowledge and care for renal impairment patients
- Advanced cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and titration of vasoactive drips
- IV starts, central line/PICC care, blood product administration and arterial line management
- Conscious sedation monitoring and procedural sedation support
- Strong Epic documentation skills and effective interdisciplinary communication
