Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality progressive care to PCU patients, keeping their safety and comfort front and center
- Perform NIHSS assessments and monitor neurological status to support timely stroke care
- Administer medications and treatments according to protocols, including ACLS interventions when required
- Complete required Trinity skills checklist and specialty competency testing to maintain clinical excellence
- Verify and maintain required licenses and certifications, ensuring all documentation is current
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care plans
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and follow facility policies for patient safety and regulatory compliance
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license (license/certificate verification required)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- NIHSS certification or competency for stroke assessment
- Completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and specialty competency testing (per facility requirements)
- Up-to-date personal health records as required: COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, influenza vaccine, 2-step PPD or IGRA, Varicella, fit test, physical/health statement, and 10-panel drug screen
- Comfort working in a progressive care/PCU environment and delivering focused, patient-centered care
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ASN or BSN)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong assessment skills for progressive care patients, including neurological and hemodynamic monitoring
- Proficiency with NIHSS stroke assessments
- Ability to perform ACLS interventions and manage emergencies calmly
- Accurate clinical documentation and effective communication with care teams
- Adaptability to unit-specific competency testing and protocols
