Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care for orthopedic and spine surgical patients
- Prepare and maintain a sterile field and ensure proper setup of multiple OR equipment
- Assist surgeons and the OR team during procedures such as joint replacements, arthroscopic sports medicine cases, and spine fusions
- Advocate for patient safety and comfort throughout pre-op, intra-op, and immediate post-op phases
- Collaborate with charge nurses, CSTs and ancillary staff to coordinate surgical blocks and case flow
- Document care accurately and communicate effectively with the care team to support excellent outcomes
- Adapt to a fast-paced environment and support teammates across varied personalities and schedules
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of practice (required)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with perioperative/OR experience preferred
- Demonstrated orthopedic and spine surgery experience (Orthopedic, Spine, Total Joint, Sports Medicine) — candidates without these will not be considered
- Comfortable working 12-hour day shifts and in a fast-paced OR environment
- Strong teamwork, communication, and patient advocacy skills
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) and active RN license
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with orthopedic and spine surgical procedures and instruments
- Ability to manage multiple OR equipment and maintain sterile technique
- Comfortable working with surgical teams during complex joint and spine cases
- Excellent situational awareness, prioritization, and adaptability in the OR
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with multidisciplinary teams
