Roles & Responsibilities

• Interpret telemetry strips and sign at least once per shift to ensure accurate cardiac monitoring
• Provide compassionate bedside care for patients with CHF, COVID, respiratory issues, GI conditions, diabetes, post-cath patients, and total joint replacements
• Administer and monitor set-rate Diltiazem/Cardizem drips per protocol
• Collaborate with Tele/Monitor Techs, Respiratory Therapy, charge nurse, and interdisciplinary team to deliver seamless care
• Document patient care and assessments thoroughly using Cerner
• Float to East Campus or PCU as needed and adapt to unit-specific workflows
• Participate in unit orientation and ongoing training to maintain high standards of care

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to submit) — current and in good standing
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience (telemetry/acute care preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to read basic tele strips and interpret dysrhythmias
• Must pass the dysrhythmia exam with an 80% score within two attempts prior to signing contract
• Cerner experience recommended (orientation on unit is limited)
• Willingness to float to East Campus and PCU if qualified
• Radius Rule applies: 50-mile rule and candidates may not have been full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and/or Dignity) within the past year

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required
• Unit-specific orientation: 1 shift on unit (12 orientation hours noted)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and ECG/dysrhythmia interpretation
• Familiarity with Cerner charting system
• Experience with post-cath care and total joint replacement patients
• Comfort managing patients on CPAP/BiPAP and providing breathing treatments
• Strong assessment, clinical judgment, and documentation skills
• Ability to collaborate with monitor techs and multidisciplinary teams
• Knowledge of set-rate drip management and unit protocols
