Shift Type: Day shifts (12-hour), 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM; specific days scheduled by unit (may include weekends and on-call as needed)
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $56 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Triage every patient entering the emergency care system and prioritize care based on clinical and psycho-social needs
- Perform thorough patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care using the nursing process
- Implement and evaluate nursing interventions, documenting outcomes and updating care plans continuously
- Manage emergencies and complications according to Mount Nittany policies and ENA standards
- Conduct hourly rounding in the department and half-hour rounding in the waiting room when patients are waiting
- Ensure supplies and equipment are ready and functioning for emergency patient care
- Provide clear, compassionate patient and family education and document understanding of discharge instructions
- Collaborate with the care team, serve as a patient advocate, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff
Qualifications
- Current Pennsylvania RN licensure
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS (current)
- AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (current)
- AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (current)
- Valid NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Clinical experience in Emergency Department patient care, triage, and patient assessment
- Comfort working across the lifespan — neonate through geriatric populations
- Ability to communicate professionally and maintain composure in high-stress situations
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency Nursing and ENA standards
- Triage and patient assessment skills
- Care planning, documentation, and discharge planning
- Hourly rounding practices and patient flow management
- Managing medical emergencies and recognizing changes in patient status
- Patient and family education techniques
- Familiarity with EPIC computer charting (preferred)
- Strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills
