Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain sterile field and instrumentation for orthopedic and spine procedures
- Scrub and assist during Total Joint, arthroscopic sports medicine, hip preservation and spine surgeries
- Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments efficiently to keep cases running smoothly
- Set up and verify multiple OR equipment pieces, ensuring functionality and safety
- Collaborate with the perioperative team to prioritize patient safety and positive outcomes
- Document case specifics and instrument counts accurately as part of the surgical record
- Support turnover between cases to maintain OR flow and minimize delays
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
- NBSTA and DORA certifications required (must have both)
- Minimum 2 years of operating room experience with Orthopedic and/or Spine cases
- Experience with Total Joint procedures, arthroscopic techniques, and spine surgery preferred
- Comfort working in a fast-paced OR environment and collaborating with diverse personalities
Education
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of orthopedic instruments and implants used in hip, knee and shoulder replacements
- Familiarity with arthroscopic equipment and hip preservation procedures
- Expertise in sterile technique, instrument handling, and OR workflow
- Ability to manage multiple OR equipment setups and troubleshoot basic issues
- Clear communication skills for efficient teamwork in high-acuity surgical settings
