Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor maternal and fetal status continuously using electronic fetal monitoring and intervene promptly when needed
• Provide direct maternal and newborn care across the spectrum of labor, delivery and postpartum
• Assist and circulate in C-sections and support vaginal deliveries, ensuring safety and dignity for patients
• Respond to obstetric emergencies with calm, decisive action and teamwork
• Document patient care accurately in the EMR (Meditech) and communicate clear handoffs
• Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiology, neonatal teams and ancillary staff to coordinate excellent care
• Educate patients and families about labor, delivery, postpartum care and newborn needs
• Maintain and troubleshoot unit equipment such as GE monitors and ensure proper infection control practices

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license for practice in Colorado (or compact privilege where applicable)
• Minimum 2 years clinical nursing experience; recent experience in Labor & Delivery strongly preferred
• Certifications required: ACLS, NRP, Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
• Experience circulating in the OR (OR circulating) and comfort assisting with C-sections
• Familiarity with maternal/newborn care, high-risk OB and common L&D procedures
• Comfort using Meditech EMR; familiarity with Centricity and GE monitors is a plus
• Ability to work night shifts and integrate into an established team quickly

Education

• Current RN license (required)
• Nursing degree (ADN or BSN) - formal nursing education required; BSN preferred where available

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of fetal monitoring and interpretation
• Strong maternal/newborn assessment and neonatal transition skills
• Proficiency with Meditech EMR workflows and documentation
• Experience with Centricity systems and GE monitors
• Critical thinking and rapid decision-making in high-acuity obstetric situations
• Excellent communication, teamwork and patient education abilities
• Familiarity with antepartum, triage and postpartum care and patient ratio expectations
